65 77 760 Removing and Installing (Replacing) Rear Seat Sensor

Incorrect handling can activate airbag and cause injury.

NOTE: Follow instructions for handling optical fibers. See 61 00 ... NOTES ON HANDLING OPTICAL FIBERS .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Disconnect battery negative lead and cover. See 12 00 ... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY .
Remove rear seat (normal). See 52 24 005 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR SEAT (NORMAL) .
Remove center seat section (comfort seat). See 52 25 002 REMOVING AND INSTALLING PADDING FOR LEFT OR RIGHT REAR SEAT .

Release screws (1).

Installation:

Tightening torque 65 77 8AZ . See 65 77 AIRBAG TRIGGERING CONTROL .

Make sure sensor is mounted without play.

Unlock plug connections (2) and disconnect.

Remove rear seat sensor (3).

Replacement:

Carry out coding/programming.

Observe following IDC specifications:
