51 16 175 Removing and Installing/Replacing Decorative Trims (All) On Function Carrier

Special tools required:

00 9 318

IMPORTANT:

When removing side decorative trims (1) or decorative trim (2) for audio system controller:

Do not under any circumstances place a tool on the dotted lines as this would destroy the decorative trim.

Side decorative trims:

IMPORTANT:

Remove lower storage tray before removing side decorative trims (risk of damage).

Fit protective cover (4) to prevent scratching.

Remove lower storage tray (drawer) from function carrier. See 51 16 ... REMOVING AND INSTALLING STORAGE TRAYS (DRAWERS) ON FUNCTION CARRIER

Using special tool 00 9 318 (universal wedge), lever out catches (1) and remove decorative trim (2).

Detach decorative trim (3) in same way.

Installation:

If necessary, replace faulty clips (1) on left/right.

Catches (2) of decorative trim (3) must not be damaged.

Decorative trim for audio system controller:

IMPORTANT:

Remove lower storage tray and side decorative trims before removing decorative trim for audio system controller (risk of damage).

Fit protective cover (2) to prevent scratching.

Open drawer (1).

Using special tool 00 9 318 (universal wedge), lever out catches (4) and remove decorative trim (3).

Installation:

Decorative trim on storage tray (drawer):

NOTE: Operations for removing decorative trim on top and bottom drawers are identical.

Remove storage trays (drawers) from function carrier. See 51 16 ... REMOVING AND INSTALLING STORAGE TRAYS (DRAWERS) ON FUNCTION CARRIER

Decorative trim on bottom drawer:

Using a screwdriver, press pin (2) on left/right out of clip (1).

Lever decorative trim (4) in direction of arrow out of drawer (3).

Installation:

Lever out clips (1) from drawer (2) and replace.

Installation:

Fitting decorative trim (3) on drawer (5):

Fit groove (2) on mounts (4)
Press decorative trim (3) downwards
Snap pins (1) into clips (6)
