12 51 001 Replacing Wiring Harness Section For Engine (N73)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Read out DME fault memory.
Disconnect battery negative lead . See 61 00 ... BATTERY
Engine hood in assembly position. See 51 00 ... SERVICE POSITION OF ENGINE HOOD .
Remove right fresh air duct . See 64 31 056 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT FRESH-AIR DUCT (AUTOMATIC A/C HIGH) .
Remove center of assembly partition wall . See 51 71 085 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CENTER OF ASSEMBLY COMPARTMENT BULKHEAD .
Remove electronics box cover.
Remove intake air manifold . See 11 61 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING INTAKE AIR MANIFOLD (N73) .
Remove underbody protection at front/rear.
Remove reinforcement plate. See 31 10 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REINFORCEMENT PLATE .

Unfasten following plug connections:

Unfasten following plug connections:

Unfasten following plug connections:

Release screws (1).

Release retaining clip (2).

Remove cover (3).

Installation:

Fit profile seals correctly.

Check for water leaks.

Installation:

Plug assignment in equipment carrier:

Control unit (1) VVT.

Control unit (2) DME. (plug color black).

Control unit (3) DME 2 (plug color gray).

Control unit (4) IVM (integrated supply module).

Control unit (5) HDEV 2 (high-pressure fuel injection control unit 7 to 12). (cable color red).

Control unit (6) HDEV (high-pressure fuel injection control unit 1 to 6). (cable color black).

Assemble engine.

NOTE: Check function of DME.
