Special tools required:

Cylinders 7 to 12.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

WARNING: Scalding hazard! 
Only perform these tasks after the exhaust system has cooled down.

Unlock and detach plug connection (1).

Release oxygen monitor sensor (2) with special tool 11 7 030. See 11 7 030 SOCKET WRENCH SOCKET WAF 22

Installation: 

Pay attention to cable routing of Lambda control sensor.

Tighten down oxygen monitor sensor (2) with special tool 11 7 030. See 11 7 030 SOCKET WRENCH SOCKET WAF 22

Tightening torque 11 78 1AZ. See 11 78 EMISSIONS-CONTROL, LAMBDA OXYGEN SENSOR

Installation: 

If an oxygen monitor sensor is reused, apply a thin and even coat of Never Seez compound (refer to BMW Parts Service) to the thread only.

The part of the oxygen monitor sensor which projects into the exhaust system branch (sensor ceramic) must not be cleaned or come into contact with lubricant.

Check function of DME.
