Parking Brake BOWDEN Cables: Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 11 other vehicles, including the 2005 BMW 760i, 2005 BMW 760Li, 2005 BMW 745i, 2005 BMW 745Li, and 2004 BMW 760i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tabs of seal (1) must engage in parking brake mounting tray. See Fig 1. To facilitate installation, use silicone spray as an antiseize agent. End sleeves of Bowden cables must engage in parking brake housing.
  2. Ensure flush mounting between seal and housing. See Fig 2.
  3. Tighten screws on parking brake housing cover to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. After installing Bowden cables, keep vehicle at standstill. Turn ignition on. Touch parking brake button three times at intervals of 5 seconds. Carry out brake test on brake analyzer:
    • Drive car with rear axle only onto dynamic brake analyzer.
    • Turn engine off.
    • Touch parking brake button and ensure uniform increase.
