Brake Booster: Removal

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 11 other vehicles, including the 2005 BMW 760i, 2005 BMW 760Li, 2005 BMW 745i, 2005 BMW 745Li, and 2004 BMW 760i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Release clamp (1) on microfilter air duct. See Figure. Press lock (3) and fold up complete microfilter air duct (4) in direction of arrow. Remove complete microfilter air duct (4) from fresh air duct (2).
  2. Remove screw (1) and remove fresh air ducts. See Fig 1.
  3. Pull off sealing strip (1). See Fig 2. Remove screws. Place holder (2) with switch for engine hood contact to one side. Remove bulkhead (3).
  4. Remove brake master cylinder. See BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER .
  5. Remove screws and remove cover (1) on non-return valve. See Fig 3. Detach non-return valve (2) from brake booster.
  6. Remove trim around brake pedal. Detach retaining clip on brake pedal (1). See Fig 4. Release self-locking nuts (2).
  7. Withdraw pin (3). See Fig 5.
  8. Unclip brake lines from holder and carefully bend to one side. Carefully pull brake booster out of bulkhead by swinging out.
