Section 128 (DISC - 745i, 745Li, 760i & 760Li): Description

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 11 other vehicles, including the 2005 BMW 760i, 2005 BMW 760Li, 2005 BMW 745i, 2005 BMW 745Li, and 2004 BMW 760i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Brake power is designed for the weight and driving performance of the vehicle. The system features a vacuum boosted dual-circuit hydraulic brake system with "front/back" distribution. Front brake calipers are aluminum to reduce unsprung weight. Two phase brake pad sensors on left front and right rear convey signals to the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) control module making it possible to calculate total brake pad service life.

Vehicles are now equipped with Electro-Mechanical Parking Brake (EMF). The EMF is used to secure a stationary vehicle preventing it from rolling away by firmly locking the parking brake. It also provides an independent brake system in addition to the service brakes. The driver can apply and release the parking brake by pressing a push button. The push button is an integral component of the light module.
