67 31 630 Removing and Installing/Replacing Drive For Backrest Tilt Adjustment (Comfort Seats In Rear Compartment)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove rear head restraint.  See 52 25 390 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT REAR HEAD RESTRAINT .
• Remove cover for armrest at rear.  See 52 25 030 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE ARMREST FOR REAR SEAT BACKREST

Detach cover (1) in direction of arrow from Velcro-type fastener behind, pull out from guides (2) and tilt forwards.

Unlock catches (3) and remove cover (1) towards top.

Remove rear panel on rear seat backrest.  See 52 25 ... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR PANEL ON REAR SEAT BACKREST .

Release screws (1) on luggage compartment partition (2).

Installation: 

Tightening torque, 52 25 1AZ.  See 52 25 REAR SEAT (NORMAL), ELECTRIC .

Move rear seat backrest (3) forward slightly.

Detach retainers (1) on rear seat backrest (2).

Turn back backrest cover (3) in direction of arrow slightly.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Release screws (2).

Carefully feed out drive for backrest tilt adjustment (3) in direction of arrow and remove.

Installation: 

Make sure spacer washers (1) are correctly seated.

If necessary, fix spacer washers (1) in place on metal tabs (2) of drive for backrest tilt adjustment (3).

Replacement: 

Initialize  drive unit for backrest angle adjustment. See 67 31 ... NOTES ON INITIALIZING ELECTRIC SEAT SERVODRIVES
