64 12 ... Replacing Burner Insert For Independent Heater
Scalding hazard!
Carry out following tasks after engine and independent heater have cooled down.
Follow instruction for working on cooling system! See 17 00 ... INSTRUCTIONS FOR WORKING ON COOLING SYSTEM
The burner insert may only be replaced after the 24-month warranty period has elapsed.
The entire independent heater must be replaced during the warranty period.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove complete independent/auxiliary heater See 64 12 021 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE INDEPENDENT HEATER
Release screws (1) and remove bracket (2) from heater.
Tightening torque 64 12 2AZ. See 12 AUXIL. HEATER WITH CONTROL ELEMENTS
Release hose clamp (1) on hose for circulating pump and disconnect hose.
Release hose clamp (2) on intake filter hose and disconnect hose.
Installation:
Check all water hoses for damage, replace if necessary.
Carefully lift cover (1) off heater.
Disconnect plug connection (1).
Disconnect plug connection (1).
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 64 12 3AZ. See 12 AUXIL. HEATER WITH CONTROL ELEMENTS
Replace all screws.
Carefully lift out combustion air blower unit (2).
Release screws (1) and pull out burner insert (3) with grommet (2).
Replace all screws.
Tightening torque 64 12 4AZ. See 12 AUXIL. HEATER WITH CONTROL ELEMENTS
Installation:
Make sure grommet (2) is in correct installation position.
Installation:
- Replace seals (1, 2) and clean sealing surfaces thoroughly.
- If necessary, remove soot deposits.
- To prevent the fuel pipe on the burner element being damaged, coat seal (2) with spirit when fitting housing.
After installation:
- Fill and vent cooling system and check for leaks See 17 00 039 VENTING COOLING SYSTEM AND CHECKING FOR LEAKS (N62, N62TU)
