52 14 050 Replacing Lumbar Cushion On Front Left or Right Seat

Special tools required: 

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Detach backrest cover (1) at bottom from backrest frame.

Remove valve housing.  See 52 14 060 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING VALVE HOUSING FOR LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT LUMBAR SUPPORT (NORMAL/ELECTRIC)  and/or 52 17 060 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING VALVE HOUSING FOR LUMBAR CUSHION (COMFORT) 

Disconnect air hoses (2) from valve housing.

NOTE:

Heat air hoses gently if they are firmly seated on valve housing.

Housing of valve block must not be unclipped (leakage). If necessary, release mounting and clip housing together.

If necessary, cut all retainers on lumbar cushion (3) and spring wire.

NOTE: Remove all remnants of retainers. Lock new retainers by bending with 52 0 050 PLIERS .

Detach lumbar cushion (3) from spring wire.

Remove lumbar cushion (3) downwards between backrest frame and seat mechanism.

Installation: 

Make sure air hoses are correctly connected to valve block (color coding).

Air hoses must be laid without kinks.

Check lumbar cushion for damage.
