51 45 177 Removing And Installing/Replacing Panel For Active Knee Protector On Left

WARNING:

OBSERVE safety regulations for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnical seatbelt tensioners.

Incorrect handling can activate airbag and cause injury.

Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery.

Disconnect battery negative lead.

REMOVE  middle instrument panel trim.

REMOVE lighting control unit.

REMOVE  trim panel for pedal assembly.

Turn plug connection (1) approx. 30° counterclockwise and remove from holder (2).

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Release screws (1).

Installation: 

Tightening torque: 51 45 1AZ  . See TRIM, INSTRUMENT PANEL for specs.

Release screws (1).

Installation: 

Tightening torque: 51 45 1AZ  . See TRIM, INSTRUMENT PANEL for specs.

Remove panel (2).

CAUTION:

Always replace panel for active knee protector on left complete.

Do not carry out any repairs on airbag module.

Installation: 

Slide guide (1) of steering column panel into mounting (2).
