34 41 220 Removing and Installing or Replacing All Handbrake Pads

Special tools required:
- 34 4 000
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove rear brake disks. See 34 21 320 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING BOTH REAR BRAKE DISCS
Observe safety when raising the vehicle.
After completing tasks, adjust parking brake. See 34 41 006 ADJUSTING PARKING BRAKE
Disconnect return springs with brake spring pliers.
Installation:
Check recoil springs and replace if necessary.
Twist clamping pins with special tool 34 4 000 through 90° and disconnect. See 34 4 000 ALLEN KEY
Remove brake shoes.
NOTE:
Figure illustrates right side: left side is mirror image of this.
Installation:
Note installation position of adjusting screws (1) and (2).
Coat threads of bushing (1) and screw (2) with grease, Refer to BRAKES - OPERATING FLUIDS .
