00 11 259 Changing Oil In Rear Differential And Disposing Of Used Oil (BMW ALPINA B7)

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage
To avoid serious damage to the rear differential, it is essential to use only approved transmission oils  in the differential (without lock). See REAR AXLE - OPERATING FLUIDS .
NOTE: Only change oil when rear differential is at normal operating temperature.

Recycling: 

Catch and dispose of emerging differential oil.

Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations

Place oil collecting apparatus underneath.

Remove oil drain plug (1).

Drain and dispose of differential oil.

Open check plug (2) and oil filler plug (3).

Add differential oil up to lower edge of opening for check

plug (2); if necessary, refer to REAR AXLE - TECHNICAL DATA for necessary fill quantity.

Installation: 

Replace oil drain and oil filler plugs.

Tightening torque = 60 Nm (oil filler plug).

Replace sealing ring on check plug.

Tightening torque = 25 Nm (check plug).
