CV Joint Boots: Removal

Remove axle shaft. See AXLE SHAFTS . Clean axle shaft. Press off sealing cap. See Fig 1 . Unfasten hose clip. Press cap off together with boot. Remove circlip. See Fig 2 . Press splined shaft out of CV joint. Use Special Tool (261110) in accordance with diameter of axle shaft. Bearing inner race must rest on rib of special tool. Clean CV joint carefully and remove all traces of old grease. Check CV joint for damage and replace if necessary. Detach boot from splined shaft. See Fig 3 .
