Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2006 BMW 550i, 2006 BMW 530i, 2006 BMW 525i, 2005 BMW 545i, and 2005 BMW 530i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Apply hand brake. Unclip hub cover. Unscrew collar nut. See Figure . Remove rear wheel. Remove rear brake disc. Remove rear speed sensor. Assemble Special Tools (332116, 332160, 334201, 334202, 334203 and 334204) and attach to drive flange. Drive out drive flange with Special Tool (334203). See Fig 1 . Remove wheel bolts and remove drive flange from special tools. Detach wheel bearing inner race from drive flange.
  2. To install, reverse removal procedure. Oil drive flange lightly and attach to splines of axle shaft. Draw in drive flange with Special Tools (332115, 332116, 332118 and 332160) and wheel nuts. See Fig 2 .
