41 31 010 Replacing Roof Outer Skin (Version With Slide/Tilt Sunroof)

Use only approved spot-welding apparatus  for repairs. Refer to 41 00... Workshop Equipment .

Remove or cover those vehicle components in the repair area which are susceptible to heat or dust.

Following new body parts are required (refer to Electronic Parts Catalogue ETK):

• (1) Roof outer skin, slide/tilt sunroof

Release 4 screws (1) in roof channel.

Tightening torque, see 41 31 2AZ in 41 31 ROOF .

Open weld joints in area (1).

Release adhesive areas  (layout, see next work steps) and remove roof outer skin. Refer to 41 00... Bonding Steel On Steel .

Installation: 

Fit new part on body. Fit windscreen for positioning.

Seal weld seams and screws with sealing compound.

Apply adhesive in areas (1).

Apply sealing compound in areas (2).
