72 11 170 Replacing Left/Right Belt Deflector

Installation: 

• Microencapsulated screws (Loctite) must be replaced and may not be reused
• Screw connection must be completed within 20 minutes (start of curing)
• Microencapsulated screws must not be retightened
• Clean thread of nut beforehand in event of repeated use

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Open convertible top
• Fold backrest forward

Lever out cap (1). Release screw (2). Tightening torque: 72 11 05AZ in 72 11 SEAT BELTS . Separate webbing. Installation:  Check that spacer bushing (3) and rubber ring (4) are in correct position. Seat belt strap must not be twisted!

Unclip trim (1) for belt deflector with a suitable tool.

Release screw (1). Tightening torque: 72 11 03AZ in 72 11 SEAT BELTS . Remove belt deflector (2). Installation:  Coding of belt deflector must be seated in body recess.

Carefully unlock retaining lugs (1).. Remove cover (2) from belt deflector (3).

Feed belt lock (1) through belt deflector (2) as shown. Feed belt deflector (2) completely out of seat belt strap.

Installation:  Feed seat belt strap (1) in replacement belt deflector (2) as shown.
