Installation location

The emergency GSM antenna is located under the rear window shelf.

> E61:  The emergency GSM antenna is located behind the right-hand luggage compartment trim panel, under the storage tray.

How it works

The emergency GSM antenna is connected directly to the TCU (Telematic Control Unit). In the event of an accident, the SGM (safety and gateway module) will send a crash signal to the TCU. The TCU the triggers an automatic emergency call. If the emergency call cannot be transmitted via the telephone aerial, the TCU will switch to the emergency GSM antenna.

Emergency GSM antenna activation

The emergency GSM antenna is only activated if a crash signal is generated. The system will not be activated in the event of reception interference on the telephone aerial.
