E60, E61, E63, E64 - Aerial Diversity

Installation location

The aerial diversity is located on the upper right on the rear window in a carrier housing. The carrier housing is glued to the rear window. The aerial diversity is connected to the carrier housing.

Construction

The aerial diversity contains the aerial amplifier for:

the FM1-4 (VHF) aerial
the AM (MW, SW, LW) aerial
the FBD (remote control operation) aerial

The power supply of the aerial amplifier for FM and AM is supplied via the terminal R ON. The power supply of the amplifier for remote control operation is supplied via terminal 30.

How it works

The aerial signals are transferred via spring contacts on the carrier housing to the aerial amplifiers. One of the FM1-4 aerials is selected for reception via the "Aerial diversity" function. If the aerial signal of one of the 4 aerials decreases, one of the other aerials with the strongest reception is automatically selected. The aerial diversity is switched over via the intermediate frequency signal of the single or two-tuner radio. The intermediate frequency signal is transferred via the coaxial line to the aerial amplifier. The aerial signals for AM and FBD are amplified in an individual aerial amplifier.
