32 31 211 Replacing Universal Joint For Lower Section Of Steering Spindle
Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.
After installation:
- Carry out steering angle sensor adjustment. Refer to 61 31 996 CARRY OUT STEERING ANGLE SENSOR ADJUSTMENT .
Necessary Preliminary Tasks:
- Move steering wheel to straight-ahead position and remove ignition key.
- Remove steering gear cover at side.
Release clamping screw.
Detach universal joint from power steering gear.
Installation:
Replace clamping screw.
Tightening torque, refer to 32 31 14AZ in STEERING AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
Installation:
If necessary, move power steering gear to straight-ahead position - markings on cap (1) and housing (2) must match up.
Release clamping screw.
Grip steering spindle lower section and pull out universal joint with corrugated tube downwards.
Installation:
Universal joint can only be attached in one position to lower section of steering spindle.
Replace clamping screw.
Tightening torque, refer to 32 31 13AZ in STEERING AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
