11 78 540 Replacing Left Lambda Oxygen Monitor Sensor (N73)

Special Tools Required:
- 11 7 030
Cylinders 7 to 12.
Necessary Preliminary Tasks:
- Read out DME fault memory.
- Remove automatic transmission underbody protection.
WARNING:
Scalding hazard! Only perform these tasks after the exhaust system has cooled down.
Unlock and detach plug connection (1).
Release oxygen monitor sensor (2) with special tool 11 7 030.
Installation:
Pay attention to cable routing of Lambda control sensor.
Tighten down oxygen monitor sensor (2) with special tool 11 7 030.
Tightening torque, refer to 11 78 1AZ in ENGINE - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
Installation:
If an oxygen monitor sensor is reused, apply a thin and even coat of Never Seez compound to the thread only.
The part of the oxygen monitor sensor which projects into the exhaust system branch (sensor ceramic) must not be cleaned or come into contact with lubricant.
Check function of DME.
