Circuit continuity check - via the CC 196 IC
P0325, P135C, P1384, P033A
The actual electrical diagnosis of the knock sensor lines is done with the built-in controller hardware of the CC196 IC and the results are stored as error flags in a status word. This status word is transmitted from the CC196 IC to the power train control module using the SPI bus. During an observation period (100 working cycles) the number of received circuit continuity errors is counted and stored in a sensor individual error counter.
If the number of counted errors during an observation period exceeds a calibrated threshold, a malfunction is detected and a plausibility fault KSx is set.
The fault path is cleared only if the number of errors remains below a calibrated threshold (during an observation period).
