31 11 040 Removing and installing/replacing stiffening plate (except M6)

IMPORTANT: Observe SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS for raising the vehicle
Driving without stiffening plate is not permissible!

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove UNDERBODY PROTECTION at front and rear.

Vehicles with rear-wheel drive:

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 31 10 2AZ .

Unfasten screws (2).

Tightening torque 51 61 15AZ .

Remove stiffening plate (reinforcement plate) (3).

Installation note:

Replace screws.

Vehicles with all-wheel drive:

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 31 10 2AZ .

Remove front stiffening plate (2).

Release screws (1) and remove stiffening plate.

Installation note:

Replace screws.

Tightening torque 31 10 2AZ .
