72 12 000 Removing and installing / replacing airbag module on passenger side

WARNING:
Each time the passenger airbag is triggered, it is necessary to replace its airbag cover.
We cannot guarantee that the retaining straps of the airbag cover will not be damaged when the airbag is triggered.
If a damaged airbag cover is reused, correct operation of the retaining straps can no longer be guaranteed.
We cannot guarantee that the retaining straps of the airbag cover will not be damaged when the airbag is triggered.
If a damaged airbag cover is reused, correct operation of the retaining straps can no longer be guaranteed.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Disconnect battery, see THE BATTERY
- Remove airbag cover, see 51 45 055 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING AIRBAG COVER ON PASSENGER SIDE .
- Open glovebox and fold back fuse carrier
Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect, see 72 12 ... Unlocking/locking airbag plug connections .
Release screws of passenger airbag module (1).
Tightening torque: 72 12 9AZ, see 72 12 AIRBAG MODULES .
Remove passenger airbag module (1).
NOTE:
Feed out cable and do not pull on cable when removing passenger airbag module (1).
