51 71 482 Removing and installing/replacing left or right tension strut (on rear axle)

Special tools required:

IMPORTANT:

Vehicles must not be driven without tension struts.

Driving without tension struts may damage the vehicle body.

Tension strut screws must be tightened to torque and then tightened down with special tool 00 9 120. (See BODY EQUIPMENT - SPECIAL TOOLS )

Release screw (4).

Release screws (1) and nut (3) and remove tension strut (2).

Installation:

Replace screws (1) and nut (3).

Insert screws (1).
Tighten down screws (1) to specified torque and then to angle of rotation.
Tightening torque 51 71 5AZ (See BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES )
Tighten down nut (3) to specified torque.
Tightening torque 51 71 7AZ (See BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES article)
Tighten screws (4)
