51 16 040 Replacing left or right door mirror housing

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove drive for electrically adjustable door mirror  (See 67 13 001 REPLACING DRIVE UNIT FOR ELECTRICALLY OPERATED LEFT OR RIGHT DOOR MIRROR )

Open door window.

Turn door mirror (1) upwards and release screw (2).

Unclip cover (3) and remove.

Tightening torque 51 16 9AZ.  (See BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES article)

Installation: 

Catches (1) of cover (2) must not be damaged.

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 51 16 9AZ.  (See BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES article)

Removing housing:

• Lever out catches (1)
• Lever housing out of mirror base (2)
• Feed housing out of carrier plate (3) and remove

Installation: 

Following parts on housing (4) must not be damaged or missing:

1. Thread
2. Catches
3. Guide

Check function.
