52 14 000 Removing and Installing Left or Right Front Seat (Normal/Electric)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove front head restraint . See 52 14 390 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT HEAD RESTRAINTS (NORMAL/ELECTRIC)
- Remove outer cover on front seat. See 52 14 040 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING OUTER COVER ON FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT SEAT (NORMAL/ELECTRIC)
Read and comply with safety regulations for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnical belt tensioners. See 72 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND GENERAL INFORMATION
Improper handling can lead to triggering of the pyrotechnical seat belt tensioner or side airbag, resulting in injuries.
Switch off ignition!
Adjust front seat as far forward and upward as possible.
Unfasten screws.
Tightening torques 52 10 01AZ. See 52 10 FRONT SEATS
Release screw (1) for belt mounting.
Tightening torque 72 11 04AZ. See 72 11 SEAT BELTS
Move front seat as far back as possible.
Raise bridge (1) on front right seat rail cover slightly and unlock.
Pull cover forwards to remove.
Press rocker switch (1) on front left seat rail cover and unlock.
Gently slide cover (2) towards front.
Carefully unlock inside edge (3) from inside.
Pull cover forwards to remove.
Release front screws on left and right seat rails.
Tightening torques 52 10 01AZ. See 52 10 FRONT SEATS
Installation:
Floor carpet must not project between seat rail and floor board in area of screw-down points (grinding noises).
Carefully tip seat towards rear.
Unclip cover (1) towards front.
Disconnect plug connections (yellow and black) on seat modules.
Lift out front seat.
