E61 Antenna Systems
The E61 has the following antenna systems corresponding to the equipment configuration:
- FM1-3 window antennae in the rear window
- AM antenna and FM4/FBD in rear spoiler
- Telephone antenna (roof/shark fin)
- GPS antenna for navigation system
- SDARS antenna for satellite radio
- TV antenna in both side windows of luggage compartment (not for USA)
- Bluetooth antenna
- Telephone emergency antenna
A distinction is made between 3 antenna amplifiers with antenna diversity modules. This is dependent upon optional equipment and county specific versions:
- Diversity AM/FM/FBD 868MHz
- Diversity AM/FM/FBD 434MHz
- Diversity AM/FM/FBD 315MHz
The heating conductor and antenna structures for the FM antennae are located on the inside of the rear window. Stranded wires are used to connect the antenna structures of the rear window.
Am reception is enabled with the aid of the AM sensor in the rear spoiler. A conductor of the split AM sensor is additionally used as a fourth FM antenna or FBD antenna. The AM sensor consists of two stranded wire conductors in which the length is optimized for AM reception. The diversity components are connected by means of a 3-pin ELO plug.
The HBL interference suppression filter suppresses interference from the supply line of the 3rd brake light (HBL) and of the rear window button line.
The rear window is powered via a rejector circuit on the right hand side of the rear window.
