E60, E61, E63, E64, E87, E90: Base Plate With Snap-In Adapter

Installation location The base plate snap-in adapter is located in the center armrest. The snap-in adapter holds the customer's mobile phone.

NOTE:
Approved bluetooth mobile phones
- Information about bluetooth mobile phones that have been approved for use in vehicles of the BMW Group and about their matching snap-in adapters is available from BMW Parts Service. A "compatibility matrix" is available there, which also shows the software status of the mobile phones.
- The following bluetooth mobile phones are currently approved:
- Siemens S65
- Sony Ericsson T630
- Nokia 6310i
- Motorola V600
The base plate with snap-in adapter is connected to the TCU (Telematic Control Unit) via a plug connector and the wiring harness. The following components are fitted in the snap-in adapter:
- Storage tray for the mobile phone
- Battery charger for mobile phone battery
- External aerial connection for GSM antenna
How it works
Each bluetooth mobile phone that corresponds to the bluetooth radio standard can be operated in a matching snap-in adapter.
IMPORTANT:
When you are driving, engage the mobile phone in the snap-in adapter.
This has the following benefits:
- Reduced risk of injury from loose objects inside the vehicle in the event of sharp braking.
- Continuous monitoring of battery charge state and automatic recharging.
- Connection to vehicle's GSM antenna providing improved reception
