Removal & Installation

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
- Partially detach weatherstrip in area of left B-pillar trim. Insert Disassembly Aid (00 9 341) under bottom of lower B-pillar trim. Pull inward then downward on bottom of lower B-pillar trim and remove. Loosen B-pillar sensor mounting screws. See Fig 1 . Remove B-pillar sensor mounting bolt. Raise sensor slightly through opening in B-pillar and feed out bottom of B-pillar.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten B-pillar sensor mounting bolt and screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Perform appropriate coding/programming using proprietary BMW DIS tester as necessary. Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
