Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 11 other vehicles, including the 2005 BMW 760i, 2005 BMW 760Li, 2005 BMW 745i, 2005 BMW 745Li, and 2004 BMW 760i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Release clamp (1) on microfilter air duct. See Figure. Press lock (3) and fold up complete microfilter air duct (4) in direction of arrow. Remove complete microfilter air duct (4) from fresh air duct (2).
  2. Suck brake fluid out of expansion tank. Use a suction bottle or syringe which is used exclusively for brake fluid. Do NOT reuse drawn out brake fluid.
  3. Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect. See Fig 1. Unfasten hose clip (2). Detach supply hose (3) of precharging pump from expansion tank. Supply hose must be secured in vertical position so that no fluid emerges. Press out retaining lugs (4) on left and right. Pull expansion tank (5) vertically out of brake master cylinder.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Check rubber plug in brake master cylinder for damage. Replace if necessary. Press expansion tank vertically onto brake master cylinder.
  5. Fill expansion tank with new brake fluid and bleed system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
