32 32 170 Removing and installing / replacing interlock cable (vehicles up to 09/2005)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 10 other vehicles, including the 2010 BMW M6, 2010 BMW 650i, 2009 BMW M6, 2009 BMW 650i, and 2008 BMW M6. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove trim for storage tray
Remove front insert for ashtray

After installation:

Adjusting interlock cable

Release screw (1) and remove bracket (2).

Move interlock cable (3) to left and then remove towards front.

If necessary, secure cord/cable to interlock cable (3).

IMPORTANT: Do not kink interlock cable.

Turn guide sleeve (1) through approx. 45°.

Remove interlock cable (2) from steering column and pull out.

If necessary, remove cord/wire from interlock cable (2).

Replacement only:

Tie cord/wire to end of new interlock cable.
