Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 17 other vehicles, including the 2008 BMW 760Li, 2007 BMW 760Li, 2006 BMW 760i, 2006 BMW 760Li, and 2005 BMW 760i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove wheel.
  2. Unflange axle shaft from final drive. See appropriate DIFFERENTIALS & AXLE SHAFTS article in DRIVE AXLES.
  3. Support wheel carrier with workshop hoist.
  4. Unfasten nut, remove screw and press swinging arm downwards. See Fig 1 .
  5. Release screw and remove integral link (1). See Fig 2 .
  6. To install, reverse removal procedure. First install swinging arm hand tight, then tighten down screw. Replace nut. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
