Removal & Installation
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 BMW 745i, 2004 BMW 745Li, 2003 BMW 745i, 2003 BMW 745Li, and 2002 BMW 745i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- If necessary, remove engine underguard at side.
- Mark screw-in length of tie rod (2) (chalk mark). This simplifies later adjustment of toe-in. See Fig 1.
- Remove both ear clips. See EAR CLIPS .
- Open band clip with pliers.
- Slacken lock nut (1). Screw tie rod (2) out of tie rod end. See Fig 1.
- Remove boot.
- To install, fit new boot with band clip and ear clip. See EAR CLIPS .
- Screw tie rod (2) into tie rod end. See Fig 1.
- Align and adjust front axle. See SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
