37 21 540 Removing And Installing/Replacing Pressure Accumulator For Air Suspension (Two-Axle Ride-Height Control)

WARNING: Danger of injury! Drain the air spring system before carrying out any work on the air supply unit, air pipes and air springs! Danger of injury if this instruction is not complied with!
Risk of damage! The vehicle must not stand on its wheels when the air spring struts and air springs are depressurized! Otherwise the air spring struts and air springs will be damaged and later destroyed during driving!
Extreme cleanliness must be ensured in the connection area of the pipes during removal and installation. Even the smallest of dirt particles can cause leakage in the air spring system.
NOTE: Read and comply with notes on air spring system. Refer to 37 00 ... NOTES ON AIR SPRING SYSTEM .

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage! Do not kink, twist or crush pipes.
NOTE:
  1. Pipe to air supply unit (1): "Black"
  2. Pipe to right air spring strut (2): "Yellow"
  3. Pipe to left air spring strut (3): "Black"
  4. Pipe to pressure accumulator (4): "Black"
  5. Pipe to left air spring (5): "Black"
  6. Pipe to right air spring (6): "Yellow"

Remove pipe only after pressure has reduced completely at valve unit. Disconnect all plug connections.

Installation: 

Pay attention to yellow markings on valve unit.

Check banjo bolt(s) for dirt, clean if necessary. Carefully insert banjo bolt(s) by hand in order to avoid damaging valve unit.

Tightening torque 37 12 3AZ. Refer to INTEGRATED SUSPENSION SYSTEMS - TIGHTENING TORQUES X5 (4.4i) N62 .

Remove pipes (1) from pressure accumulator (2). Release screws and remove pressure accumulator (2) with valve unit.
