51 71 412 Removing And Installing/Replacing Rear Spoiler

Special tools required: 

Release screws (1) with washers (2).

Unscrew nuts (3).

Lever out seal plugs (4) and release nuts underneath.

Tightening torque. See BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Disconnect plug connections (1 and 5).

Disconnect hose (2).

Raise rear spoiler slightly and feed out grommets (3 and 4).

Remove rear spoiler.

Installation: 

Make sure grommets (3 and 4) are correctly seated

Installation: 

Following parts must not be damaged or missing:

  1. Clip
  2. 2 x felt (12 x 20 mm)
  3. Studs (for adjusting rear spoiler)
  4. Plastic nut

Replacement: 

Remove auxiliary brake light. 

Adjusting rear spoiler: 

Observe gap dimensions.  See BODY GAP DIMENSIONS .

Press on rear spoiler (1) and measure negative protrusion of rear spoiler (1) to rear window (2) with special tool 51 0 010.

A = 1 ± 1 mm

If necessary, adjust rear spoiler (1) by means of stud (3).
