31 53 040 Removing And Installing/Replacing Right Output Shaft Bearing Block

Danger of explosion!
There is a danger of short circuiting on account of the small distance between the bearing block screw connection and the starter motor.
Disconnect battery negative lead. See 12 00... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove right output shaft . See 31 60 004 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING RIGHT OUTPUT SHAFT .

Release screws (1).

Remove bearing block from oil sump.

Installation:

Replace O-ring. See 31 51 065 REPLACING O-RING FOR BEARING BLOCK .

Tightening torque. See FRONT AXLE - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Replacement:

Remove sealing caps.
