E60, E61, E63, E64, E87, E90: Compensator

Installation location 

The compensator (optional, special accessory), is located in the aerial cable between the ULF control unit and the vehicle aerial.

NOTE: Retrofitting on vehicles from 03/2005. The basic fittings for the compensator are not present from 03/2005. This means that the compensator can only be retrofitted at considerable expense.

Construction  The compensator is located in an enclosed housing. The compensator has 3 connections:

How it works 

The compensator can be used to compensate for losses in the aerial cable between the snap-in adapter and the GSM antenna. The compensator is witched on by the ULF when terminal R is ON (= ignition lock position 1). The compensator remains switched on until terminal R is switched OFF. The compensator increases the output power to the GSM aerial to a maximum of 2 watts. This increases the distance in the GSM mobile phone network.
