Vehicle Identification Check

The information stored redundantly in the instrument cluster and the CAS control unit (Car Access System) is:

• Vehicle identification number
• Odometer reading
• CBS data

The vehicle identification number and odometer are used to prevent manipulation. CBS data are important in the service organisation (Key Reader and service acceptance module (SAM)) and must not be lost. Refer to E60, E61, E63, E64 - GENERAL INFORMATION ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  .
