51 16 ... Replacing left or right outside mirror housing

Special tools required:

Removing protective cap:

Release screws (1).

Using special tool 00 9 316 (sealing lip wedge), lever out catches of protective cap (1).

Remove protective cap (1).

Installation:

Following parts of protective cap (3) must not be damaged:

Removing retaining ring:

Protective cap removed.

Turn mirror (1) through approx. 90° towards front until screws (2) are accessible.

NOTE: Hold mirror (1) after releasing screws (2).

Release screws (2) and remove.

Installation:

Tightening torque, 51 16 1AZ. Refer to BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Carry out function check.

Turn mirror (1) upwards and release screw (2).

To remove retaining ring (3), screw down mirror (1) again to front door.

Lever out all catches and remove retaining ring (1) towards rear.
