51 32 154 Adjusting left or right front door window

Special tools required: 

NOTE: The end stop and pretension of the door window glass can be adjusted without the acoustic insulation being removed.

Remove acoustic insulation. Refer to 51 48 ... Removing and installing/replacing acoustic insulation on left or right front door .

Requirement:

Front door must be correctly adjusted to fit. Refer to 41 51 004 ADJUSTING LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT DOOR TO FIT .

Convertible soft top must be correctly adjusted. Refer to CHECKING CONVERTIBLE TOP .

Ideal adjustment: 

Door window glass (1) must rest in area (A) on seal (2) (wind noises, water ingress).

Dimension (B) is measured approx. 80 and 370 mm from corner (3) of A-pillar towards rear.

Dimension (C) is measured on A-pillar.

B 4+1 mm

C 3+1 mm

Measuring retraction depth:

NOTE: 3 items of special tool 51 3 080 are required for rapid adjustment of retraction depths.

Emergency operation: 

Ideal adjustment:

Close door window glass (1).

Close door lock rotary striker with front door open.

Door window glass (1) now moves into end position.

Door window glass (1) must now retract in area (2) and A-pillar.

NOTE: Check/adjust presettings after removing or replacing power window lift.

Presetting of pretension and retraction depth (C): 

Front guide roller (1):

Adjust measurement (E1), (F1) with feeler gauge (2) and end stop (G1).

E 1.9 mm

F 2.7 mm

G 12 ... 13 mm

Presetting of pretension and retraction depth (B): 

Rear guide roller (1):

Adjust measurement (E2), (F2) with feeler gauge (2) and end stop (G2).

E2 1.9 mm

F2 1.9 mm

G2 12 ... 13 mm

Presetting of pretension, front: 

Adjust measurement (H) between window lift rail (1) and inner door plate (2) and screw down.

H approx. 10 mm

NOTE: Special tool 00 9 318 (universal wedge) can also be used for adjustment.

Presetting of pretension, rear: 

Adjust measurement (I) between window lift rail (1) and element (2) and screw down.

I approx. 1 ... 2 mm

Adjusting retraction depth:

A approx. 250 mm

CAUTION: Check emergency operation.

Adjusting pretension and end stop, front:

Adjusting pretension:

Lever out end cap (1), slacken screw underneath.

Adjust pretension by moving window guide rail and tighten down screw.

Adjusting end stop:

Open complete door window glass.

Lever out end cap (2) and adjust end stop with screw underneath.

CAUTION: Check emergency operation.

Adjusting pretension:

Lever out end cap (1), slacken screw underneath.

Adjust pretension by moving window guide rail and tighten down screw.

Adjusting end stop:

Open complete door window glass.

Lever out end cap (2) and adjust end stop with screw underneath.

CAUTION: Check emergency operation.
