Steering Spindle Bearing (Upper): Removal

Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL .
Take off collar (1). See Figure .
Unscrew bolt (1). Pull off connectors. Press lock inwards and remove switch unit towards bottom. See Figure .
Lever out snap ring (1) and remove sleeve (2). See Fig 1 .
Lift out steering spindle bearing (1). Remove bearing inner sleeve (2). See Fig 2 .
To install, reverse removal procedure. Insert bearing inner sleeve with bevelled end pointing to steering block. See Fig 3 .
Fit sleeve (1). Attach snap ring (2) with special tool (32 1 090) and steering wheel retaining screw (3) until it snaps into place in groove of steering spindle. See Fig 4 .
Point Recess (3) of collar ring (1) to snap ring (2). See Figure .
