Starting The Engine

The vehicle engine can be started from all terminal statuses when:

• A valid remote control is inserted and locked in the ignition switch
• The brake pedal is actuated.

If the brake-light switch is defective or disconnected, an actuation of the brakes is detected by the DSC control unit via the brake pressure sensor. Also, the P or N position of the transmission is detected via the EGS (TCM).
