General Information On Servicing The Car Phone Professional

NOTE: Changing the Bluetooth passkey after replacing the TCU (Telematic Control Unit). Because the Bluetooth passkey is variable, there is no need to change it.
NOTE: Manual coupling of a Bluetooth handset to the TCU. Manual coupling of a Bluetooth handset to the TCU is required in the following cases:
  • If the coupling of the Bluetooth handset to the TCU conducted at the factory has been cancelled.
  • If another Bluetooth handset is to be used on the TCU.

To couple manually, carry out the following steps:

NOTE: The Bluetooth handset must be coupled manually within 2 minutes.
  • If terminal R is active for longer than 2 minutes when the Bluetooth handset is being coupled manually, "Bluetooth detection" mode is deactivated by the Telematic Control Unit (TCU).
  • Restart the process from point 1 after terminal R has been switched off.

  1. Ignition Lock

    Terminal R ON
  2. Displays And Control Units

    Operate from the components installed (on-board monitor, multi-information radio, etc.). Call up and select a menu with the corresponding control element:
    • "Communication settings"
    • "Telephone/Modem"
    • "Bluetooth connectable in this menu"
  3. Bluetooth Handset

    Select and call up a menu item using the selector button to select the menu items (on lower edge of display).
    • Press "Bluetooth" -> "Select"
    • Press "Vehicle base station" -> "Select"
    • Press "New search" -> "Select"
    • Select the desired vehicle with the arrow buttons if there are multiple displays.
    • Press "Connect" => Display: "BMW and the last 5 digits of the vehicle identification".
    • Press "Connect" => Display: "Enter Bluetooth passkey" (Take the Bluetooth passkey out of the operating instructions, read it off from the Telematic Control Unit (TCU) and read it with the BMW diagnosis system).
    • Enter Bluetooth passkey
    • Press "OK" => Display:
      • "Connection successful"
      • "Insert SIM card" or "Please wait" or available network, e.g. "D1"

Coupling With The BMW Diagnosis System  The Bluetooth handset can be coupled to the Telematic Control Unit (TCU) using the BMW diagnosis system. To couple the Bluetooth handset, call up the following menus in succession:

Manually Decoupling A Bluetooth Connection On The Bluetooth Handset  Select a menu item and call up the following to decouple an active Bluetooth connection using the selection button to select menu items (on lower edge of display).

Master Reset Button On Bluetooth Handset  If no Bluetooth connection can be established between the Telematic Control Unit (TCU) and the Bluetooth handset, the Bluetooth handset should be reset to the as delivered status by a master reset. To re-create the as delivered status, carry out the following steps on the Bluetooth handset:
