64 51 522 Removing and installing or replacing expansion valve

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Release screws (1), tightening torque 64 53 2AZ. Refer to HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Detach lines (2).

Installation: 

Replace sealing rings.

Unhook holder (1).

Unclip heating duct for right footwell (2) and remove in direction of arrow.

Installation: 

Ensure heating channel for right footwell (2) is correctly seated.

Release screw (1).

If necessary, disconnect plug connection at socket.

Unclip trim on center console (2) and remove.

NOTE: For purposes of clarity, illustration shows heater/air conditioner removed.

Turn control wheel in center of fresh air grill (1) in direction of arrow to end position.

Unclip cable.

Release screws (2).

Remove cover (3).

Remove sound insulation (1).

Release screws (1) and remove plates (2).

Pull lines apart a little and remove expansion valve (3).

Installation: 

Replace sealing rings.
