11 22 510 Removing and installing/replacing flywheel (M62)

Transmission Removed

CAUTION: Once the flywheel has been replaced, the pulse generator must be reset,

refer to 12 14 520 in ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - REPAIR INSTRUCTION - X5 4.6L .

Block the flywheel using special tool 11 2 070.

Unfasten flywheel screws.

Remove drive plate (1).

Remove flywheel (2).

Clean threads on flywheel screws in crankshaft.

Installation: 

The flywheel is secured with a dowel sleeve.

Installation: 

Fit flywheel (2) and mount drive plate (1) for torque converter correctly. Holes in drive plate (1) and flywheel (2) must be aligned over one another.

Fit new flywheel screws.

Tightening torque,

refer to 11 22 1AZ in ENGINE - TIGHTENING TORQUES - X5 4.6L .
