Bluetooth Handset

The Bluetooth handset is the mobile control unit for the TCU (Telematic Control Unit) within the Bluetooth reception area. Using the Bluetooth handset, telephone calls can be made in privacy mode and short messages can be sent and received in the Short Message Service (SMS text messaging).

Installation Location The Bluetooth handset is stored in the eject box in the storage compartment in the centre console.

Construction The Bluetooth handset consists of components which are illustrated and those which are not. The following components on the Bluetooth handset are not illustrated:

The electronic circuitry for the telephone functions
The electronic circuitry for the Bluetooth technology
Power supply (e.g. for lithium ion battery)
Microphone (on back of casing)
Loudspeaker (on back of casing)

How It Works The Bluetooth handset engaged in the eject box is released by pressing the eject button. Lifting one side of the Bluetooth handset enables it to be removed more easily from the eject box. When the Bluetooth handset is engaged, the contacts on the Bluetooth handset and the contacts on the eject box touch. The connection to the integrated charger in the eject box and to the Telematic Control Unit (TCU) is established via the contacts.

NOTE: Activating the telephone functions. The "Professional car phone" functions can only be used when the SIM card is inserted, with the exception of emergency calls.
