Pairing The Bluetooth Handset With The Telematic Control Unit (TCU)
Each Bluetooth handset must be paired with the Telematic Control Unit (TCU) before it can be used. Pairing assigns the Bluetooth handset to the TCU. After assignment, the TCU will automatically detect the Bluetooth handset when it enters the reception area.
The first time a connection is made between a Bluetooth handset and the TCU:
- Enter the Bluetooth passkey once into the Bluetooth handset.
- Enter the Bluetooth passkey in coupling mode as follows:
The TCU is in recognition mode when the 3 indicator lights (depending on the vehicle equipment) in the display, on-board monitor or multi-information display, etc. flash.
To call up coupling mode:
- Switch OFF terminal R (ignition lock position 0)
- Press and hold the transmit/receive button on the Bluetooth handset
- Switch ON terminal R (ignition lock position 1)
- Release transmit/receive button after 2 seconds, or
- Call up coupling mode in the BMW diagnosis system under "Control unit functions".
Entering Bluetooth passkey:
- Start coupling via the Bluetooth handset menu.
- Enter the number given as the Bluetooth passkey with the number keys on the Bluetooth handset.
- Note the display on the Bluetooth handset LCD.
Ending Coupling Mode
- Switch OFF terminal R
- Switch ON terminal R
- The TCU is now in normal operating mode again.
- Only then the connection between the components and telephone functions in the vehicle and the Bluetooth handset is established.
Decoupling A Bluetooth Handset From The Telematic Control Unit (TCU The connection for the Bluetooth handset coupled to the TCU can be decoupled. Telephone book entries transferred from the SIM card are also cleared by decoupling. Decoupling (clearing of entries) is performed in recognition mode.
- To clear entries:
- Press and hold the transmit/receive button on the Bluetooth handset for approximately 1 second.
- Switch ON terminal R.
- Release the transmit/receive button.
"Bluetooth coupling" is displayed in the on-board monitor or multi-information display.
- Press the transmit/receive button again and hold for 10 seconds until three signals are heard.
"Coupled devices cleared" is displayed in the on-board monitor or multi-information display.
