| Release battery positive lead at terminal. | - |
| Remove check valve on right side (cylinder bank 1 to 4). | - |
| Detach battery positive lead from alternator. Refer to 12 31 020 Removing and installing or replacing alternator (N62) . | Tightening torque, 12 31 1AZ. Refer to ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES . |
| Lift engine hood into assembly position. | - |
| Secure engine in installation position with special tool. Refer to SECURING ENGINE IN INSTALLATION POSITION WITH SPECIAL TOOL (N62) . | - |

| Release A/C compressor and place to one side. | - |
