Wheel Carrier: Removal

  1. Remove wheel. See 36 10 300 REMOVING OR INSTALLING FRONT OR REAR WHEEL
  2. Unfasten collar nut. See Fig 1.
  3. Remove expanding block and remove support from brake carrier. Remove ABS speed sensor. See FRONT ABS PULSE SENSOR .
  4. Unfasten nut, untighten screw and press swinging arm downwards. See Figure.
  5. Screw on special tools (33 2 111/116/117) with 5 wheel lug bolts. Press axle shaft out of drive flange. See Fig 2.
  6. Support wheel carrier with workshop hoist. Unfasten shock absorber from wheel carrier. See Figure.
  7. Unfasten control arm on wheel carrier. Unfasten nut. If necessary, brace on hex head. See Figure.
  8. Unfasten traction strut on wheel carrier. Unfasten nut. If necessary, brace on hex head. See Figure.
  9. Remove wheel carrier.
